The influential Mount Kenya Foundation (MKF), a league of top business leaders endorsed Raila Odinga for President on Wednesday.
They said their decision to back Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader’s presidential bid had the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
MKF said President Kenyatta had also cleared them to grace Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja convention on Friday, December 10.
Odinga has hinged his 2022 campaign of a unity platform, visiting ten regions to popularize the Azimio la Umoja clarion call in what is set to culminate on December 10 with a declaration of his fifth stab at the presidency.
MKF members who hail from President Kenyatta’s central region stated that the quest for unity in the country was part of Kenyatta’s agenda hence their decision to back Odinga’s quest.
MKF Chairperson Peter Munga stated that their ‘Muthamaki’ (leader) had given them the go ahead to rally behind Odinga.
“If he had not given us the blessing to go for Azimio la Umoja we would not have been here,he is our ‘Muthamaki’(leader),” said Munga.
Raila’s momentus climbing of the mountain and his two-day traverse of the region from Nanyuki in Laikipia and back to Kiambu was well styled and fashioned by by a pompous welcome in all the stopovers was without a doubt a calculated move to erase the ddcades long Raila phobia.
But things didn’t end there. A significant part of the process that seems to have gained traction as seen in his subsequent meetings with the youths. The narrative that Raila Odinga cannot be sold in Mount Kenya is now like a candle with its last glimmers as the wax melts away. In just two days Baba managed to start the journey of selling himself and there is a sense in which his new strategy is breathing some aura of freshness in his candidature and maybe everything is finally set for a Raila Presidency.

Kenya.CS Munya read the aspirations of the forum, heavy on stating why they are choosing Odinga and not Deputy President William Ruto.
“We have also witnessed what corruption can do to an economy and cannot imagine a Kenya wgere looters are in-charge. Our economy-related issues are complex and cannot be reduced to a mere slogan, catchy phrases or handouts,” said the CS.
Agriculture CS Peter Munya led state functionaries present at the meeting in declaring their support for the opposition leader. National Assembly leader Amos Kimunya spoke on behalf of the region’s parliamentarians as Nyandarua governor Francis Kimemia avowed his support for Raila on behalf of the region’s county heads. The Safari Park Hotel endorsement comes just days before Raila’s much-hyped Azimio La Umoja convention, where the former premier is expected to officially declare his interest in the presidency.
